Villa de Leyva seems unchanged since decades. The same cobblestone streets, colonial houses, exactly the way you expect it. No surprise, because it has been declared a national monument for decades as well, preserving the village as it was.
There has been a lot of resh money flowing in from expats, wanting to live here. It’s not difficult to see why. And yes, it has changed the town a bit. More boutique shops and hotels. In the weekends it was already because of Bogotanos coming here. Check for yourself on these photos why that is.
