Street art in Colombia

Street art is much more than just decoration or art in Latin America. It depicts rules of behavior on schools, it explains history in murals, it draws attention to injustice.
It is all these things and more in Colombia as well. In a city like Medellin, torn apart by violence for decades, it is a means of healing the wounds. A way to honor those that died.
In Cartagena, it is a way to honor the indigenous past, to pay tribute to strong women, and to local hero Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Bogota is a more gritty affair, where street art graces the concrete borders of highways and the surroundings of office buildings. Wherever it is, though, it is relevant.
